Flyperbole: Rumor Ruminations on Brayden Schenn, Evander Kane, Steve Mason

BRAYDEN BLUSTER During last week’s podcast, we discussed some of the players that the Flyers might try to re-sign once free agency hits in the offseason. The big names are Steve Mason and Brayden Schenn, although Erik Gustafsson, Tye McGinn, Michael Raffl are also in the RFA camp. Steve Downie and Adam Hall will be UFAs. Brayden Schenn is the most curious name of the bunch. He got off to a great start this season, scoring 7 goals before Thanksgiving, but has gone a little cold since. The Flyers can’t decide if he’s a center or a winger. Is he …

Flyperbole: Rumor Ruminations on Steve Mason’s Next Contract, Henrik Lundqvist

MASON MISSION I am absolutely terrified of the contract that the Flyers are going to offer Steve Mason. Mase has been absolutely stellar this year. He has surpassed my wildest expectations thus far. But I’m waiting for the bottom to fall out of the bottom of the cardboard box that is Flyers goaltending.   Maybe I feel like Charlie Brown and Flyers goaltending is Lucy with the football, but I get the feeling that Mason will get a nice, long contract, and immediately start playing like hot garbage. I could be way off-base here. I HOPE I’m way off-base here. …

News and Rumor Roundup: Newbury to Adirondack, Timonen’s demotion, Thomas Vanek

The Flyers have sent Kris Newbury back to the Adirondack Phantoms per Anthony SanFilippo. The combination of the play of Tye McGinn and Michael Raffl as well as the return of Vincent Lecavalier made Newbury expendable. He’ll be remembered for that keen assist against the Hurricanes and for not being Jay Rosehill.   Kimmo Timonen has apparently been demoted to the second power play unit in favor of Mark Streit. This makes a ton of sense given how many times Kimmo has fumbled the puck at the blue line and Streit’s excellent slap shot on the man advantage this …

Hockey Hilarity: Robert Ryan Says Silly Season Is Silly

Friday funnies brought to you straight from hockey’s own players, media personnel, and broadcast botches. We’ll be mucking it up every week right here, examining puck ups, puns, tweets, and more! Since the Stanley Cup Finals are upon us, and the Philadelphia Flyers have already started to leak or announce some of the things they’re going to be doing as part of their plan this offseason, a name has come up in rumors (again!?) that has been circulated for, well, forever with the Orange and Black. That name is none other than Anaheim Ducks forward, and Cherry Hill native, Bobby Ryan. Bobby …

Flyers are trying for Ryan

One rumor that has always been in the head of Philadelphia Flyers fans is that of local boy Bobby Ryan. The Cherry Hill, New Jersey native has spent his entire National Hockey League career in Anaheim.  Drafted second overall in 2005, Ryan has lived up to expectations. Scoring 30-or-more goals in four of his six seasons with the Ducks proves that he is indeed an elite forward.  Spanning his career, Ryan has played in 378 contests.  Scoring 147 goals and 142 assists for a total of 289 points; he also carries a rating of plus-40 and has also pumped home …
