Can I go back to Columbus now?

Thoughts after three

Impressive Flyers so far: Vincent Lecavalier Brayden Schenn Mark Streit Zac Rinaldo Steve Mason (minus one goal) I keep thinking to myself things like, “Why is Nicklas Grossmann carrying the puck in the offensive zone?”, “Why is Grossmann shooting the puck?”, “Why is Grossmann still on the ice?” That’s not a criticism of Grossmann so much as it is an acknowledgment that perhaps he’s being misused and overused. It says more about the players on the ice with him and the coach, really. During the first 40 minutes of the season, the Flyers looked like a team that could dominate …

Laughton Sent to Oshawa

Photo courtesy of Philly.com In somewhat of a surprising move, the Flyers announced Thursday that they were sending 2012 first-round draft pick Scott Laughton back to the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League. Laughton was a healthy scratch in last night’s season opener for the Flyers, with the team opting to go the tougher route with enforcer Jay Rosehill against a larger, more physical Toronto Maple Leafs team. Waiving of Hall leaves questions unanswered among the forward group

The Philadelphia Flyers waived Adam Hall on Saturday and he cleared waivers on Sunday. While he has yet to be sent to down to the Phantoms, you can’t help but wonder what is in store for the forward group. It’s entirely possible (probably even likely) that we see additional moves before the season begins, but I seriously scratch my head with this one. Any plan that potentially has Jay Rosehill in your regular twelve forwards is not a plan that I like. The Flyers forward group currently consists of Giroux, Voracek, Hartnell, Lecavalier, Schenn, Simmonds, Couturier, Read, Talbot, Laughton, Rinaldo, …

Flyers Send Down Raffl, Lauridsen to Phantoms

Photo courtesy of Philly.com The battle for the third line wing spot is a little clearer today, as the Flyers announced they sent LW Michael Raffl and D Oliver Lauridsen down to the Adirondack Phantoms ahead of tonight’s preseason finale versus the Washington Capitals. Raffl, who had been battling with Scott Laughton and Chris VandeVelde for the team’s vacant spot on the third line, was held without a goal in four preseason games for the club. Lauridsen, the big defenseman from Denmark, played in three preseason games with the the Flyers after a short stint with the team last season. …
