Riley Gill is on quite a streak backstopping the Reading Royals — the top overall seed in the Eastern Conference. Following in the footsteps and crease markings of Philipp Grubauer, all he’s done is post a 10-2-0 record with three shutouts, a 1.18 goals-against average and save percentage of .955 in 12 games with the Atlantic Division champions this season. Part of his success is his stinginess: allowing two goals or less in 11 of his 12 appearances. It was fan appreciation night at the Sun National Bank Center last night and the Trenton Titans showed their appreciation by putting a 7-2 shellacking on the Wheeling Nailers. Shane Harper recorded his second hat trick in as many days on his way to a five-point game, as Jacob Cepis posted four assists in a six-point performance for the Titans’ second blowout win in a 48-hour span over the Nailers. The Trenton Titans may have outshot the visiting Kalamazoo Wings 46-27, but the hosts fell 2-1 in overtime last night at the Sun National Bank Center. Sam Ftorek had the game-winner for Kalamazoo with 1:01 left in overtime, while former Trenton Devil Joel Martin stopped 45 shots for the Wings. The Trenton Titans took on the Gwinnett Gladiators on Wednesday night as they sought to move within three games of .500 on the season and get a measure of revenge for a 4-2 loss in December. Tye McGinn made his NHL debut on Tuesday night, as his first four games with the Philadelphia Flyers were impressive. Not only did the forward knock around Kris Newbury in his second game, McGinn registered his first goal in the NHL in the first period of Philly’s 7-1 rout of the Florida Panthers on Saturday. On top of that, McGinn has six hits in his first four contests with the Flyers. Unfortunately for Eric Wellwood, McGinn’s success at the highest level helped cause him to be moved down to the Adirondack Phantoms. The tandem of Matt Germain and Peter Lenes registered all three goals for the visiting Wheeling Nailers, as they handed the Trenton Titans a 3-2 loss last night at the Sun National Bank Center. Germain potted the first two for Wheeling, while Lenes scored the game-winner in the midst of a hectic third period. Peter Delmas posted the 42-save victory, as Scott Wedgewood ended up with the loss despite playing all of 10:50. Just when the Trenton Titans seemed to be heading in the right direction, the Cincinnati Cyclones made a visit to the Sun National Bank Center and hand the Philadelphia Flyers’ affiliate a 4-0 loss on Saturday. Garrett Wilson had a two-goal game for Cincinnati, while former Trenton Devil Dan Eves and Mike Embach had two-assist games to end the Cyclones’ three-game losing streak. The Trenton Titans’ losing streak reached seven games before they pulled off an overtime winner on Wednesday morning against the Reading Royals. The Philadelphia Flyers’ affiliate only grabbed one point over the 0-6-1 stretch, as their last two wins have come in overtime against the Royals at Sun National Bank Center.
