Future Flyers Report: Laughton and Leier lead the way in offensive production

The pair of Scott Laughton and Taylor Leier have played the most games out of any of the Philadelphia Flyers’ prospects, and they are averaging over a point per game in the process. Ironically for both players, neither of them lead their junior teams in scoring. Laughton has 11 goals and eight helpers in the Oshawa Generals’ first 11 games this season. The forward sits third on the Generals in scoring, as the pair of Michael Dal Colle, who has 23 points, and Josh Sterk, who has 20 points, sit in front of him. Several of the moves involving former Philadelphia Flyers and Flyers’ draft picks this week relate to NHL training camps taking shape. In addition to a Professional Try-Out for Hal Gill, the drama surrounding Daniel Cleary, and an entry-level contract handed out to Taylor Leier, a pair of goaltenders once linked to the Orange and Black are involved with other NHL clubs. One netminder is Johan Hedberg, who was invited to the New York Rangers training camp on a Professional Try-Out. With Martin Biron, yet another former Flyers’ goalie, out of camp due to personal reasons, Hedberg will join the Blueshirts and try …

A small number of former Philadelphia Flyers, draft picks, and players who were once linked to the organization moved this week, as three former Flyers altered their careers and a former Trenton Titan retired. The biggest news of the week relating to former Flyers is the retirement of Jody Shelley.
