Enroth shuts out Flyers in Buffalo

The Philadelphia Flyers dropped their fourth straight contest today in Buffalo with a 1-0 loss to the Sabres. Jhonas Enroth stopped 29 shots for his first shutout this season, while Christian Ehrhoff had the game’s lone goal in the first minute of the third period. Despite a late-game flurry by the Orange and Black, the visitors couldn’t put a single shot past Enroth to extend the game. With several chances in the final minute of the game, Danny Briere rang one off the crossbar with one second left to make it that much more painful. “It’s just the way things are …

Winnipeg roared out of the gates in the second and notched four goals on just 12 shots, while Philadelphia could only muster five all period. Newly acquired backup goaltender Steve Mason saw his first action as a Flyer, stopping all seven shots he faced …

Flyers hang on for 3-2 win, end three-game losing streak

Both the Philadelphia Flyers and the Buffalo Sabres entered tonight’s game at the Wells Fargo Center on three-game losing streaks, but the hosts were able to grab a 3-2 victory to end their skid. Claude Giroux had the game-winning goal just 17 seconds into the second period and Kimmo Timonen had two helpers in the win, while Ilya Bryzgalov had 17 stops for the decision. It wasn’t the prettiest of victories, but the Flyers came out and provided enough of an effort to beat a team as desperate as them to earn points. Although it was their third game in …

Atlantic Watch: 1/19-1/22

Philly doesn’t just sit at the bottom of the division, they sit at the bottom of the league, as there are there are seven teams yet to record a point, but the Flyers are the only team to …

Vanek and Flyers’ Penalty Kill Hand Philly Second Straight Loss

The Philadelphia Flyers suffered their second loss in 48 hours with a 5-2 defeat in Buffalo on Sunday afternoon. Thomas Vanek accrued five points on two goals and three assists in the Sabres’ first game of the 2013 season.  Tyler Myers registered the game-winning goal in the third period, and Ryan Miller stopped 27-of-29 shots. For the second straight start, you couldn’t blame Ilya Bryzgalov, as he denied 36 of Buffalo’s 40 shots on net. Both Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux scored for the Flyers in a loss that drops them to 0-2-0 in this shortened season. With the game tied …

Two worlds colliding.

Flyers as “Anchorman” characters

As a tribute to one of the funniest movies ever, and in light of Will Ferrell’s recent visit to Philadelphia and his interaction with a few of the young Flyers, we’re getting a little silly this week. Close your eyes, sip your scotchy scotch scotch, and join us for “Flyers as ‘Anchorman’ characters.” Claude Giroux as Ron Burgundy This one is a given. Burgundy’s the leader of the group, smooth with the ladies, and has one of the best mustaches in the game, just like G does in Movember. I bet that Giroux’s apartment smells of rich mahogany, though I’m …

Why You Heff Ta Be Mad?

It’s been a tough last few days for Flyers fans. A tough offseason, even. The team wound up losing out on Shea Weber, and hasn’t really made any splash-worthy moves so far this summer. Of course, it’s still early and the team still has plenty of time to do something… though, at this point, their somethings are limited. Regardless, many Flyers fans are feeling pretty bummed right about now. So here are some hilarious Flyers moments to help cheer ‘em up! Kevin Marshall’s rise to fame thanks to his dancing “skills” in 24/7: Marshall showing off his acting/lip-synching “skills” with fellow …
