Restless

Waiting for hockey season is becoming intolerable. I was fine for the first couple months, really. Time to take a break from all the outpouring of emotions every game, including the half-excitement, half-bitterness that came with watching Los Angeles hoist the cup. August seems to be when I get itchy for hockey. I think it has to do with the school year starting, so it feels like everything should be beginning. Bought new set of pencils? Check. Bought tickets for Flyers game? Check. Of course this time, it’s even more intolerable because I’m holding off on getting tickets (Flyers are …

The Streak

I was excited when I heard that Ilya Bryzgalov was going to be a Flyer. There was an immediate desire not to be pleased with the trading of Mike Richards to the Kings (supposedly to get the money) nor when I found out about the HUMANGOUS (had to) contract that the Flyers offered Bryzgalov to come. However, I liked the Phoenix goalie because I’d been following the Coyotes off and on since I started watching hockey. He got them into the playoffs in 2010 as far as I was concerned. And then the first half (3/4th’s?) of the season happened. …

Mail Call

This is what was waiting for me in the mailbox. Which is so horrible that as soon as it’s uploaded on here, I’m just going to delete the photo off my desktop because I feel so wrong to have something called malkin.jpg. ::shudders:: But then I open the magazine and this is what I see: After a really long week, Claude Giroux appears in my mailbox. Someone up there likes me. Yes, I’m still receiving The Hockey News, mostly because I keep forgetting to cancel my subscription and then my credit card gets charged again and I hate to …

A Jumble (of thoughts)

It’s two days to Christmas. That’s insane. I just got my packages out in the mail yesterday. Yeah, I was way late this year. Wish my family and friends didn’t live so far away. The logistics when you’re a nomad like me. I thought today I would just do some quick reviews of much that’s been going on. We’ve had two episodes of HBO’s 24/7 Flyers Rangers so far with lots of quotable moments (HuMANGous Big) and Giroux returned after four games off for a four point night. Crazy busy in Flyerdom. First though, The Hockey News, Vol. 65 No. …

Print Media

On my very messy desk (it gets bulldozed on the weekend, sometimes), sit two issues of The Hockey News. My very first two issues in truth. Being a subscriber to Gamecenter Live means I get a lot of advertisement emails from NHL.com and the like and this was the fifth email about getting 10 issues of The Hockey News for some low price. I’d just been asked to write here on flyersfaithful.com and I thought, I need to know more about hockey, why not? I like magazines and catalogues.  It might be more the joy of getting something in the …
