The Flyers finished their 2011-12 regular season with a pair of games that didn’t have any kind of effect on the standings, as they beat the Buffalo Sabres and lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins. It’s those same Penguins that the Flyers will play in the 2012 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, which starts tonight. Philly’s final home game of the regular season was also their final win, as they beat the visiting Sabres 2-1 on Thursday night. Wings Extend Streak To 20 At Home, Flyers Lose 4-3 In Detroit

Johan Franzen broke the tie early in the third period to give the Detroit Red Wings a 4-3 lead over the visiting Philadelphia Flyers, which they held on to for their 20th straight home win. “The Mule” potted his league-leading 10th game-winning goal and 22nd goal of the season in the first minute of the third period, as Joey MacDonald earned his third straight win at home with a 26-save performance. The Philadelphia Flyers had a week that has been pretty uncharacteristic of this team through the 2010 part of the 2010-2011 Season as they’ve allowed a ton of goals.
