Hockey Hilarity: Hockey Video Game Fans Are Dedicated Too

Friday funnies brought to you straight from hockey’s own players, media personnel, and broadcast botches. We’ll be mucking it up every week right here, examining puck ups, puns, tweets, and more! Okay, so this has nothing really to do with the real game of hockey, but the virtual one counts, right? The NHL ’14 demo was released this week and it’s pretty cool. On a related note: I was perusing Twitter and came across this retweet by none other than Sean Ramjagsingh, “Producer – EA Sports NHL series and tweeter of random things not related to my job!” (well that’s according …

Hockey Geekiness

Dave Delisle runs two fantastic websites, Dave’s Geeky Ideas and Dave’s Geeky Hockey.  On these sites, he takes the geeky ideas in his head and turns them into visible concepts, and, in some cases, reality. I asked Dave a few questions about his websites, hockey video games, and hockey in general. What idea was the inspiration for Dave’s Geeky Ideas? NHL 2K11 review: iPhone edition

Allow me to preface this review by putting everything in context. NHL 2K11 costs $1.99 for the iPhone, which is less than the typical cup of coffee from Starbucks. Comparatively, many of the EA sports games cost $6.99+. There is also a Lite version of the game, which is free, if you’re hard up for cash. No matter what flaws the game may have, it’s still a bargain. In the past, we have seen air hockey and bubble hockey games available for the iPhone but 2K11 is the first NHL game released by a major developer. As such, it makes …

NHL 11 demo: A brief review, system comparison

A few days ago, I downloaded the NHL 11 demo on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms. Much like Pro Hockey Talk did earlier today, I would like to share some thoughts on the game. Immediately, I was impressed by the intro and the cleaner interface. The new faceoff engine is a nice feature and there is much greater detail to the players in the circle now. I broke about five or six total sticks during the handful of times I played the demo. Three times came during one game but none lead to any scoring chances. Seeing the …
