Flight Plan: Turning It Around

The Philadelphia Flyers have been one of the hottest teams in the entire NHL in November. Since their first game of the month, a 7-0 blowout loss to the Washington Capitals, they have managed to garner at least a point in the standings in every game except one, as they’ve gone 7-1-2. It’s a pretty impressive little run they’ve been on, but what’s also refreshing is that they are starting to score goals at a more consistent pace. Flyers Hold On, Beat Islanders 5-2

Claude Giroux’s power play goal early in the second period would prove to be the game winner, as the Flyers held on to beat the New York Islanders 5-2. Matt Read and Wayne Simmonds scored 59 seconds apart in the second period to give the Flyers an early 2-0 lead. Sean Couturier and Steve Downie assisted Read’s goal. Vincent LeCavalier and Eric Gustafsson assisted on Simmonds goal. Brayden Schenn scored an insurance goal in the third period from Giroux and Jakub Voracek. Flyers Outlast Senators; Win 5-2

Kimmo Timonen scored the go-ahead goal, his first of the season, at the 11:30 mark of the third period to give the Flyers a 3-2 lead. The Flyers would go on to beat the Ottawa Senators 5-2. Claude Giroux opened the scoring for the Flyers, lighting the lamp on the power play for his second goal of the season.
