Reactions to reactions

There’s a lot of rumors and opinions going around regarding the Flyers right now and, well, to cut to the chase, I’m going to throw my hat into the ring too. The idea that Giroux would in any way benefit from being stripped of the C for reasons similar to Lecavalier’s youthful inexperience is of course ludicrous. -Ryan Lambert Sure, Claude Giroux (24) is not as young as Vinny Lecavalier (20) was when he was stripped of his captaincy but there are other, legitimate reasons to remove the C from Giroux’s jersey. Playing in a major market — especially one …

Immediate change is inevitable, necessary

Though I have not been very active on Flyers Faithful recently, long term readers know that I am a huge advocate of patience and letting players work through their issues. Sadly, the Flyers are well beyond that point. They are in desperate need of sudden and drastic changes. To use the buzzword of the moment, the “culture” within the locker room is a huge issue. Players lack confidence. The team views themselves as a group of losers. Worst of all, nobody has stepped up to take charge. Five Questions 2013 Preseason: Who Will Fill The Gap at Third-Line Left Wing?

Flyers Faithful is pleased to have Dave Isaac from the Courier-Post, Matt Brigidi from SB Nation, David Strehle from The Fourth Period, Anthony Mingioni from Center Ice Philly, and our very own Steve Jacot participate in the current iteration of Five Questions. This is the first of a five-part series focusing on the 2013-2014 preseason. (Please keep in mind that these questions were answered last week, so some of our questions may already have been resolved by the team.) With the news that Dan Cleary will not be joining the Flyers, how should they handle the gap at third-line left …

Flyers draft day predictions

We are at a point in time where we can start counting down hours until the draft but there’s still plenty of time for things to happen between now and when Mr. Irrelevant gets picked. So, let’s take a stab at what happens between now and then in what may be the most unpredictable draft day in years. (Keep in mind that this is just for fun and I have about as much of a chance of being right as I do of winning the lottery.) The Flyers have been linked to Pittsburgh defenseman, Kris Letang, who allegedly has Philadelphia …

It’s buyout day (and errybody celebratin’)

Today is the day that we bid farewell to two of the highest paid Flyers, Ilya Bryzgalov and Danny Briere, as the team will exercise their two compliance buyouts on them. This leaves a gaping hole in net (one could argue there’s been a gaping hole there for 15 or so years, though) and one fewer center on a team that arguably has too many centers. But do they? Claude Giroux can play wing and The team has toyed with the idea of moving Brayden Schenn there too. Beyond Scott Laughton and maybe Nick Cousins, there is little in the …
