Then and Now: David Laliberte

Ryan Callahan has played five seasons with the New York Rangers. Before the start of the 2011-2012 NHL campaign, Callahan was named the Rangers’ captain, an honor he holds at the moment as well. His first season as captain of New York was also his first 50-point year in the NHL, as he was just one goal shy of the 30-goal plateau. Not bad for a right winger who was picked 127th overall in the fourth round of the 2004 NHL Draft. The last right winger selected before Callahan came just three picks earlier, as the Philadelphia Flyers chose David …

Trenton Update: 11/16-11/22

The Trenton Titans split their two games in Elmira against the Jackals last weekend to snap a long losing streak. The six-game losing streak that lasted three weeks, and saw five losses to the Reading Royals, has dropped the Titans to 12th in the Eastern Conference. Trenton looks to win three out of their last four with two home games this weekend against a pair of opponents who aren’t the Royals or Jackals. The Titans ended their losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Jackals last week at First Arena. After failing to score a single goal for the Kalamazoo Wings …

Trenton Update: 11/9-11/15

In a schedule quirk, the Trenton Titans’ last five games have all come against the Reading Royals. The Titans lost every single one of those contests and are currently on a six-game losing streak, as they have gained only one point in the process. Three of Trenton’s losses to the Royals came this past weekend, as the club was minutes away from ending their losing streak. After coming up short in both of the clubs’ meetings last week, the Titans dropped last Friday’s meeting in a 2-1 affair at the Sun National Bank Center. Bryan Haczyk leveled the game at one with his third …

Then and Now: Eric Weinrich

Many players will be remembered for their leadership, whether or not they could perform in the clutch, or if there were unique aspects to their game. For Eric Weinrich, he’ll most likely be remembered for a piece of equipment. The former Flyers’ defenseman that sported a yellow visor throughout his career went on to play for five different teams after his stay in Philly and is currently a scout for another NHL club. Signed by the Flyers in the summer of 2001, Weinrich was a strong presence on the back line for the Orange and Black over three seasons. In …

Minor League Update: 3/26-4/1

With six games remaining in their schedule, the Phantoms did enough this week to stay within striking distance of the eigth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Four points behind the Manchester Monarchs (Los Angeles Kings’ AHL affiliate) with a game in hand, Adirondack has a chance to gain the final spot for the postseason, which will surely result in being swept by the Norfolk Admirals (Tampa Bay Lightning’s AHL affiliate). Since they play a total of three games this week against two teams currently out of the playoff scenario, the Phantoms can easily gain ground towards a …
