For a franchise that is known and loved for their pugilistic dominance, it’s not surprising that one of the team’s favorite players amongst the fans is a fourth-line pest that always picks on somebody bigger than him. Winning the Gene Hart Memorial Award, helping to put one of the league’s best power plays on the ice, and leaving the goal scorers in a favorable position to start their shift is a good summary of Zac Rinaldo’s season. After learning that they wouldn’t be in the playoffs for the second time in the last 18 seasons, the Flyers pulled off two straight wins. The Orange and Black look to end the campaign on a strong note with one more home game and one more away game. The Flyers were shut out by Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils on Thursday in a 3-0 loss at the Wells Fargo Center. The Dueling Fists of Fury have been given a vote of confidence by the Flyers’ front office, as both Zac Rinaldo and Jay Rosehill were signed to two-year contract extensions on Wednesday evening. The former recorded three goals and five points to go along with 85 penalty minutes in 32 games for the Flyers but has been out of action since April 3 with a high-ankle sprain of his left leg. On April 1, 2013 the Flyers traded away Harry Zolnierczyk. The members of the Flyers have been trained to lose all identity so they could dissolve into one cohesive orange and black unit. The Philadelphia Flyers took a four game win streak, their first of the season, into Winnipeg yesterday.
